is it dangerous to continue to wear things if they're a little tight on your belly? i'm trying to plan out when to buy new stuff.

No, but it can be uncomfortable. I'n due in six weeks and still wear my (UK) size 12 jeans because they are stretchy, I just undo the button if I'm sat down for a long time. Maybe you should try a 'bumpband', its a stretchy elastic band like a boob tube thay you wear over the waist of your jeans but under your shirt that 'turns' your normal clothes into maternity clothes because you dont have to fasten them. you can find them online.

So I am 31 weeks pregnant and its almost my birthday, I REALLY REALLY want to go shopping but how? Is there anyway to know what size or any way to try on clothes right now that will look good after the baby? (I was a size 5) I gained 20lbs so far so it looks like average wieght gain, (25-30lb) Is there anyway at all that this is possible or is my birthday redit better spent on the baby??

I would wait til after the baby. I wasn't the same size after i had my daughter. My hips got wider and my boobs bigger, my rib cage spread so all my pre baby clothes got tossed out. I would wait so that the clothes fit you. You may be exicted to get new clothes but you have no idea what your body will look like after you have the baby.

Good luck.

I'm still in my first trimester, but my clothes are already feeling tight! Its hard to fit comfortably in my jeans and I don't want to (nor can I), wear sweat pants everyday. Should I just buy some regular clothes in bigger sizes? What do I do when those don't fit though? Please give me some advice.

I still haven't started to wear maternity clothes and I'm 20 weeks. I'm going to do my best to avoid them at all costs too. I buy my jeans super low rise so that they will sit below my abdomen, and so many of today's fashions look like maternity clothes anyways! You can do what I've done. I shopped the clearance racks at the store and found a ton of cute clothes that were a size or 2 bigger than what I normally wear. I payed between $3 and $5 a piece for them. Several of the shirts that I found were almost identical to clothes that I found in maternity stores! I just didn't have to pay the outrageous prices. I really didn't mind spending money on clothes that may or may not fit later in pregnancy because they were so inexpensive. I also know that I will be able to wear them again after I have the baby because I know I wont be going straight back to my original sizes. As for jeans, if you don't want to buy them as low rise as I do (they can take awhile to get used to) you can try 2 things. First there is this thing called a bella band. It can hide the bulge of you leaving your pants unbuttoned. You can also try using a rubber band to hold your jeans together. What you do is loop the rubber band through the loop of the jeans so that it stays and then use it to hold on to the button.

Good luck and congrats!

I am nearly 20 weeks pregnant now, and I hear a lot of women saying they cant even button their pants at 8 and 9 weeks along. I am still wearing my jeans and shirts from my pre pregnancy days without a problem. I walk around and I guess I look like I just ate but Its not uncomfortable to button my pants, and I havent gained any weight yet. Ive had an u/s just last week, and I saw my healthy baby girl, weighing 8oz. is this normal, or should I be having a tough time fitting into my clothes by now?
I should add, im 5'5 and I wear a size 8. My Dr. told me I have an anterior placenta, so the baby is toward the back. I guess that could be why? can anyone relate?

I wouldn't worry about it. I had a healthy baby girl on January 7th and really didn't show until the last couple of months. As long as the baby is healthy and your OBGYN isn't concerned, don't stress about it. I was even lucky enough to be back in my pre-pregnancy clothes when I came home from the hospital two days after my daughter was born. Some women are just lucky like that, although I kind of felt at 4-5 months like I just looked fat and wanted a shirt that said "I'm not fat, I'm pregnant". My mother was the same when she had me, she even lost extra weight post pregnancy and was thinner than she had been before she got pregnant (and she was quite thin then!). Every pregnancy is different. As long as you're eating healthy, getting plenty of rest and taking care of yourself, you're doing everything you can. You make just find at 5 months you "pop" and overnight suddenly look pregnant (I had a friend who did that).
