Hi, How early can you have sex after childbirth ?
Vaginal birth with stitches.
How soon will the stitches heal ?
How long will you bleed ? and when will you start your period after all the bleeding after childbirth ?
Thanks !
I know of a lot of women's that have sex at 4 weeks after having their baby, but is it safe ?
The time they tell you to wait is 6 weeks before having intercourse but its a soon as you feel ready and comfortable.
My stiches healed and disolved after around 4 weeks?
I bled for 2 weeks but everyones different.
Once your bleeding stops (from childbirth) you then get have your normal cycle some women dont go back to narmal cycle straight away though again every womens different.

It all depends on your body and what your doctor tells you. Most doctors tell you to wait at least 6 weeks before you can have sex again–it stinks for our men, though. Poor guys!

what is wrong with you, you just had one. how many do you need. If the stitches are still there that”s way to early.

6 weeks is the standard for waiting before having sex. I personally waited for 5 weeks.
I had a c-section and bled for about 7 weeks afterwards. It’s been four months now and my period still hasn’t returned, I’m breastfeeding though and read somewhere that breastfeeding may delay the return of your period.

They say six weeks, but plenty of women have it sooner than that. I would definitely recommend waiting though until after the stitches (if any) dissolve. Six weeks sounds about right but I can’t remember exactly.
Bleeding can last for weeks after the baby is born. With both of mine, I bled for about three weeks or so and then started my period at exactly six weeks!

6 weeks is recommended. Listen to your body. You should know when you’re ready. Don’t rush yourself though.

Doctors usually recommend six weeks… It really depends up to you and how you are healing. It can take longer or shorter than that. I had sex with my husband 2 weeks later no problem.

ASAP! I find it best when there is still blood there!

The doctors recommend u to wait 6 weeks after giving birth, gives your body time to heal plus you should be done bleeding by then, yeah the poor men have to suffer, but look what they have done to us for 9 months,

Most doctors will say wait until at least 8 weeks. my son was delivered vaginally by vaccuum and i had an epesiotomy. i had a lot of pain afterwards and our first time having sex again after our son wasnt until about 4 months. i was really scared that i was going to rip open so that was part of not doing it. you will definately want to use lube, and unless you’re ready for another baby right away, use protection because you can get pregnant while nursing. the stitches usually heal and dissolve by 5 weeks as long as nothing goes wrong. i bled for 3 months and didnt have a normal period until my son was 8 months old.

You should wait until your 6 week postpartum checkup. The doctor will usually tell you that the stitches have healed and if you have the all clear.
Good Luck.

Some doctors say 6 weeks, usually if there is a tear or if you had an episiotomy. That’s about how long it takes for the tears, stitches, and your uterus to heal. Others say have sex as soon as you want to, which may be about six weeks anyway.

Every womans body is different so we all heal differently, some women spot for several weeks, some only a few days. The stitches depends on what degree of a tear you had. I have had a 2nd degree tear and it was about 3 weeks till the stitches finally went and it felt fine. Your suppose to wait 6 weeks to do anything because you dont want to risk infection since your uterus is still healing inside so is your tears. Also your incredibly fertile after giving birth even if your breastfeeding. Drs usually don’t administer birthcontrol till after 6 weeks post pardum and even then they want you to use 2 different methods for a couple months till your body accepts what your using. Good luck, I know pleanty of women that start to get frisky by 3 weeks, but wait if you can~

I had my daughter 11 days ago and my stitches have already healed and the bleeding has already decreased. You can expect some bleeding for 3-8 weeks after delivery. Your period should occur within 4-12 weeks after delivery or longer if you breast feed. Also you shouldn’t have sex until after your postpartum visit (which is usually 4-6 weeks after delivery).

This is something you NEED to consult your OB on. Congratulations!!

I know for fact that you have to wait at least 6 weeks, my wife just had a baby about 7 months ago and we had to wait a while and please dont think poor of us men that we have to wait….whatever! you were the one that just push a baby out of your guts no men can take that and also its proved that a man will never be able to take the same pain of giving birth. It will not be thoughtful of a guy to take his wife and have sex right after giving birth, what animal will do that? so dont worry and talk about it with him let him know how you feel, and if you can wait and he loves you ….then he should be able to wait too.

6-8 weeks, but double check with your doctor. He may need to check to see if you are healing fromt he stitches well. I bled for 3 weeks after, I got my period 9 months after. No idea why. I never exclusively breastfed and only breastfed once at night.

I had sex 4 weeks after having my daughter, but I had no stitches, so there was not so much healing to do. With my son, it took me 10 weeks because I was so tender where I had the stitches, I just couldn’t handle it. It is different with everyone

You need to wait until you see your doctor for your checkup (usually six weeks). He or she will tell you whether or not it is safe.
Stiches usually take 3-4 weeks to heal (USUALLY)
I bled for 8 weeks, but everyone is different.
I didn’t have a real period for about 4 months, but I breastfed.
Everyone is different…you should really wait until you see your doctor.

I bleed for 3 weeks with a very very light bleeding for a week after that and then I went right into my period!
I have a 6 week check up at which the doctor will clear me to have sex. I think that the longer you can wait the better. That way your body has more time to heal and go back to normal. I only had one stitch but it took about 4 weeks to completely heal and not to hurt any more when I would wipe (sorry TMI).
I wouldn’t say it is unsafe to have sex at 4 weeks but it most likely will hurt and be very uncomfortable for you because of your stitches (depending on how many you have)
Good Luck!
