My daughter has just had her first child and both the hospital midwife and the clinic midwife, whilst talking abount contraception, said that is is impossible for a woman to become pregnant for the first 3 weeks after childbirth, and leaflets she was given at the hospital also say the same. Does anyone know it this is a new discovery? If so I would like to find out why this is.

if the hospital says this then im sure its been researched and its not a new discovery..
but i always thought you could concieve straight after child birth, but it seems as though i am wrong.. but saying that it isnt impossible to concieve straight away because everyone is different
