Clips focusing on the early years of Henry VIII’s marriage to Katherine of Aragon. Focuses on reasons behind the marriage and her first pregnancies which initially resulted in different ways but eventually came to the same devastating conclusion.
Interestingly, Katherine’s daughter Mary would also suffer confusion in regards to pregnancy. Katherine appears to have had an infection immediately after her first miscarriage which gave off the appearance that she was pregnant and she proceeded to enter her confinement. Throughout her marriage to Philip of Spain, Mary would perceive herself to be pregnant twice; in both circumstances it looks likely that she suffered from Pseudocyesis (false pregnancy). Like her mother she ‘took to her chambers’ and no child arrived. Unlike her mother though Mary proceeded to have no children and was probably never pregnant.
Prince Henry, the child born to Katherine and Henry on New Year’s Day 1511, was their longest surviving son. His birth was commemorated with various festivities. One such festivity, a joust, was recorded in the 60ft long Westminster Tournament Scroll from 1511:

Henry is really ugly. Arthur is cuter.
Pardon my ignorance …
Pardon my ignorance, I’m a “noob” to Tudor history, but I was wondering where it said that the baby died suddenly…was it likely what we know today as SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)? Or was his cause of death known?
Catherine was a …
Catherine was a legitimate descent of Edward III for her mother Isabella I of Castille, meanwhile the Tudors were descendts of a butler of the king
Well, I think Henry …
Well, I think Henry married his wives only for a son, except for Catherine of Aragon. He married her, because it was his fathers wish. But if Jane Seymore hadnt died, I bet he would have been very good to her, and not divorce her.

I have to disagree. While Catherine of Aragon is my favorite out of Henry VIII’s wives, Henry stated that he considered his third wife as his true wife. He was even buried next to her.
there is lots of …
there is lots of evidence that henry loved catherine the most of his wives. i mean i know he passed her on 4 anne boleyn, but that was jst because she couldnt give him a son, not because he didnt luv her, he just didnt know it. catherine was his true wife and defo the true queen of england.

This is funny, when …
This is funny, when they show a pregnant Catherine lying on bed talking to a maid they are using a too modern Spanish. In fact they address each other not using the respect form of the second person of singular, highly unlikely! Besides Catherine uses the word ’super’ instead of ‘muy’ (very) which is too colloquial and quite recent in present spoken Spanish.

Ive noticed ‘LadyPerseverance’ has received many thumbs down- I don’t understand why, she is just expressing her opinions in a mature and reasonable way. If people disagree they should have a mature debate instead of this childish thumbs down thing.
